Corporate Sustainability

The ability to create sustainable value –i.e., value for the shareholders while contributing to a sustainable world- is a great opportunity still to be developed.

To seize the opportunities derived from the sustainability challenge, executives should, basically, reformulate their prevailing points of view on strategy, technology, and markets. This will help identify new business opportunities. Those who address sustainable development as an opportunity will handle the process called “creative destruction” and establish the competences required to compete in this 21st Century.

Within this framework, in 2003 the Instituto de Estudios para la Sustentabilidad Corporativa (IESC) [Center for Study of Corporate Sustainability], belonging to the Fundación de Estudios e Investigaciones Superiores [Foundation of Higher Education and Research], was conceived as the academic evolution of the Instituto de Estudios para el Management Ambiental (IEMA) [Environmental Management Studies Institute] originally founded in 1999.
